blog: one year of solace

Today, August 26, 2024, officially commemorates one full year of work on Solace Curse Holdings, the fantasy webcomic I am developing with my artist friends Carly & Ari! And what a year it’s been:

  • In October I had some mild medical intervention which greatly increased my energy levels and, consequently, my writing output.
  • In February Ari and I attended LTUE in Provo and had the incredible opportunity to learn from and speak to other incredible authors and artists.
  • In March I started what would eventually become the “By Writers For Writers” project, and I started reading books on writing in an effort to improve my craft.
  • In June I threw myself into the short fiction submission circuit in yet another bid to hone my skills.
  • In July I started several professional development projects, including the building of this very website.
  • Heck, we’ve even had our first production baby!

Throughout all of this we kept plugging away at Solace‘s outline, and eventually I began the draft of the script itself. As of this month we’ve started developing the art assets in earnest, and have started building out the website (which I will share when we get closer to launch!) My goal is to have the script completed by the time we’re ready to launch, barring any edits we may need to make as the pages are published.

It feels a little silly to be writing a whole blog post about this project that won’t be out for several months at the least, but Solace is special to me. I want to continue to celebrate this year of work, even if there’s still little to share. I am excited that the story is developing, and I am excited that my friends are as passionate about this project as I am. It gives me hope that you’ll love it too.

For now, here is the official synopsis! I hope to have more for you soon. And as always, you can track my progress through my projects page. Thanks so much for being here!
